Many businesses adopted the cloud in the last few years due to its various factors like scalability, security, etc. Again businesses need to understand one important thing that cloud providers do not take complete ownership of security be it AWS, GCP, or Azure they have something called a Shared Responsibility Model.

The shared responsibility model is a model defined by most cloud providers to draw a clear line between the responsibilities of the cloud provider and the customer when it comes to security.

According to most of the cloud, the cloud provider is responsible for Hardware, Network, and Physical security whereas the customer is responsible for Configurations, Access policies, and User data.

Based on the cloud service (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) you have opted in you will need to take ownership as shown above.

So basically, the security of the cloud is the cloud provider’s responsibility whereas the security in the cloud is the customer’s responsibility.

Before making any business decision w.r.t cloud understand the above model and secure the components that come under your scope of responsibility.

I hope it was helpful.
